SARAH JOHNSON
Cello
Sarah Johnson is a cellist originating from the vibrant Pacific Northwest. She is a recent graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Music in cello performance, where she studied with both Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir and Sarah Rommel. She served as principal cellist in the university’s top symphony orchestra for three years and was sought after for various local organizations and orchestras, including the Emerald City Ballet’s orchestra and the Seattle Chinese Orchestra.
During her studies in Seattle, particularly inspired by the teaching expertise of her professors, Sarah discovered a passion for music instruction and took on several cello students while honing her skills in effective communication with and nurturing of beginner cellists. Among other festivals, she gained acceptance to and spent the past summer at the rigorous Monteux Music Festival studying orchestral masterpieces and excerpts. She currently attends the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a graduate fellow with a full scholarship working closely under celebrated cello faculty Edward Arron.
