
RACHEL HERTZ
Winds & Band (Summer only)
Massachusetts-based clarinetist, woodwind doubler, and music educator, Rachel Hertz is building community through performance and education. Hertz currently teaches 4th Grade Band in Greenfield Public Schools and private clarinet lessons/chamber music at the Northampton Community Music Center. Hertz plays professionally with the Valley Winds and Commonwealth Wind Symphony and has freelanced with New England Repertory Orchestra, New Hampshire Philharmonic, and Groton Hill Music Center. Hertz works as a woodwind doubler with Barrington Stage Company, Speakeasy Stage Company, Calliope Productions, and MS/HS across Massachusetts. Rachel studied Music Education and Clarinet Performance at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where they were a student of Romie de Guise-Langlois (BM, BME ‘24). While at UMass, Rachel was awarded the Theodore Presser and Susan Campbell Scholarships. Rachel enjoys reading science fiction, practicing clarinet, and playing with their cat, Miso.
