About the event
The repertoire for this Sing is Margaret Bonds' Ballad of the Brown King and selections from Alice Parker conducted by PVS Chorus Director Dr. Allegra Martin.
PVS Summer Sings are open community events, each led by a different conductor, who conduct a sing-and-play-through after taking a little time to workshop tricky sections. Choral enthusiasts and instrumentalists of all experience levels are welcome to attend for an informal and musically rewarding experience. Singers don’t need to have performed the work before, but will probably get the most out of the experience if they can sight-read adequately or are familiar with the work. Bring your own score or borrow a copy from the PVS. We invite instrumentalists to join a pick-up chamber orchestra, led by PVS Accompanist Larry Picard.
Admission is on a sliding scale with a suggested amount of $20. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Pay what you can afford. However, Summer Sings are a way for the PVS to earn a little revenue during the summer off-season, so please be as generous as you can!
Please note that since the Bonds is out of print, scores will be provided at the Sing. We strongly recommend RSVP'ing so we can have an accurate headcount in advance. See you there!
