About the event

The PVS Orchestra’s 30th annual Mary Stuart Rogers Education Concert was performed on April 11th for almost one thousand 3rd & 4th graders in Greenfield, MA. A video of the world premiere of Oliver Towne, a radio play-style composition from Andrés Martín and poet Roger Arvid Anderson will be available to stream free on our YouTube channel beginning May 1st.

Oliver Towne is a Mountain Lion who is lost in the Big City. He finds his way back home thanks to the help of many talking animals. This delightful radio play-style adventure will enchant young audiences and introduce them to the wonders of orchestral music!

“Oliver Towne” is a new work from Andrés Martín with words by Roger Arvid Anderson. Martín last joined the PVS in March 2021 when the PVSO performed his extraordinary “Vox: Concerto for Cello” with Amos Yang.

The 30th annual PVS Education Concert is sponsored by: The Mary Stuart Rogers Foundation, Greenfield Public Schools, Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, and the Local Cultural Councils of Greenfield, Bernardston and Leyden, Buckland and Shelburne, Conway, Deerfield and Whately, Gill and Montague, Charlemont-Hawley, Northfield, Ashfield, Montague, New Salem and Wendell.
