AGNES COAKLEY COX
Voice

Agnes Coakley Cox is a voice teacher and freelance soprano specializing in early music and choral music. Agnes grew up in Boston and studied Music at Yale before earning a master's in Early Music Voice and a master's in Vocal Pedagogy in Basel, Switzerland. She is co-director of the ensemble for seventeenth-century music, In Stile Moderno, which performs regularly in Boston and Brattleboro, VT. She performs regularly with many early-music ensembles and choirs such as the Handel & Haydn Society (Boston), The Thirteen (Washington, DC), Ensemble Altera (Providence, RI) La Fiocco (New Jersey), Seven Times Salt (Boston) and others.

Before moving to Greenfield in 2022, Agnes taught voice at Wellesley (MA) High School and maintained a small home studio in the Boston area. She has also worked as a choir director and vocal coach for a children’s choir. Agnes loves working with singers of all ages and levels, as well as those who don't yet know they are singers (hint: that includes everybody!) She strives to meet each student where they are—whether that's polishing up an opera aria or just getting the confidence to sing for the first time in public—and to make vocal technique tangible, accessible, and interesting.
