$15 EACH SING, 4 FOR $45
Virtual singalongs of beloved pieces from the choral cannon and extraordinary contemporary pieces, conducted by acclaimed music leaders.
Each singalong event will be interwoven with conversations with the conductors, granting a behind-the-scenes look at the process of understanding, preparing and presenting the music.
On July 28, we were excited to present a very special singalong premiere of excerpts from Dark River: the Fannie Lou Hamer Story by Mary D. Watkins. The opera tells the story of Fannie, the daughter of sharecroppers who was one of the first African-Americans to register to vote in Mississippi and who then became a leader in the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party.
The virtual singalong, created and conducted by PVS Music Director Tianhui Ng, is a collaboration with WomenArts and the West Village Chorale. You can find more information about Fannie Lou Hamer and Dark River here.
